The first step in the process is to study and analyze the current applications and infrastructure in place using metrics and KPIs to determine the complexity. KPIs would be poor performance of application, software code complexity, unfulfillment of customer needs, loose system integration of partners, vendors, customers with internal stake holders, inadequate data for analysis and analytics, etc. KPIs are given with the range from 0 to 100. 0 meaning an ideally clean implementation to 100 meaning a hopelessly entangled one.

Then, we set a strategy and create approach for each of those KPIs and set shared goals between the IT department and executive leadership within the organization. Communication is a vital for the success in digital transformation. So, we set a communication plan to have an open and continuous communication in place at regular intervals from planning to delivery review the program status and risks status. And we follow agile delivery practices with formal reviews with key stakeholders to ensure that executive leaders are closely involved.
